Recognising, Understanding and Responding to Big Feelings and Behaviours

Where do these big feelings and behaviours come from- what is the message, family background, trauma, dysregulation, sensory profiling.

LCCC are running out the second Community of Practice session this year on April 23rd facilitated by Melissa Moore Accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist, Parenting Consultant and Clinical Supervisor.

The session titled “Recognising, Understanding and Responding to Big Feelings and Behaviours in a Childcare Setting”will focus on the following;

  • Factors that impact our practice as professionals
  • Brain Development in Children, Understanding relevance of Neuroscience and Practitioner’s role in shaping this
  • Where do these big feelings and behaviours come from- what is the message, family background, trauma, dysregulation, sensory profiling (where we look at eating habits and food), need for movement, noise, touch triggers etc
  • What can practitioners do to help the children in their care including use of language (includes some verbal scripts) connection, play, interventions.
